Terms of Service

Agreement

By creating a Stake account, or by using the app or stake.dating, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Stake.

Who can use Stake

You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter a contract, and not barred from using the service under any applicable law. You must not have been previously removed from Stake, and you must never have been convicted of a felony or a sex offence, or be required to register as a sex offender with any authority.

Your account

• One account per person. It is yours, personally — don't share it, sell it, or let someone else run it.
• Keep your credentials private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
• Keep your profile honest: real, recent photos of you, and your real age. Impersonation is grounds for immediate removal.
• Use Stake for meeting people, not for advertising, recruiting, fundraising, or selling anything.

Community rules

These aren't guidelines. Breaking them gets accounts suspended or banned.

• Be respectful. No harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeted abuse.
• No nudity or sexually explicit content in profiles.
• No impersonation, catfishing, scams, solicitation, or spam.
• No minors — anywhere, in any form, in any context.
• No sharing another person's private information, including screenshots of your conversations with them, without their consent.
• No automated access: no scraping, bots, or reverse-engineering the app or its APIs.
• Report anything that feels wrong. Blocking is instant and ends visibility in both directions.

Credits

Stake runs on credits, not subscriptions. There is no recurring charge and nothing to cancel.

• Credits are bought as one-time in-app purchases, or granted by us — including the credits new accounts start with.
• They are a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use features inside Stake. They are not money, they carry no cash value, and they can't be exchanged, gifted, or cashed out.
• You spend them inside the app — for example on a Spark, or on making a match permanent. Prices in credits can change; we'll say so in the app before they do.
• Except where the law says otherwise, purchases are final. Refunds are handled by Google Play or the App Store under their own policies — we can't process a store refund for you.
• Unused credits are forfeited when your account is deleted or terminated.

Temporary matches

Matches expire by design. A new match currently runs for three days unless one of you makes it permanent. When it expires, the match and its conversation are removed for both people and cannot be restored.

That timing is a product decision, not a promise — we may adjust it. If we change it materially, we'll announce it in the app first.

Your content

You own what you post. You keep it. By posting it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display it for the purpose of operating and promoting the service to the people it is meant to reach. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that are already inside routine backups.

You confirm you have the right to post what you post, and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Safety

We give you tools — block, report, unmatch, verification — and we moderate the community. We do not run criminal background checks or identity checks on users, and a verified badge confirms only that a selfie matched the profile photos.

You are meeting strangers. Use your judgment: meet in public, tell someone where you're going, and never send money to anyone you've met on Stake.

Moderation & appeals

Moderation includes automated signals — for example, a profile may be hidden pending review after multiple reports. We may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate an account that breaks these terms or creates risk for other people.

If you think we got it wrong, email hello@stake.dating and a person will look at it again.

Disclaimers

Stake is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise matches, dates, relationships, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, online or offline. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.

Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer, you keep every mandatory right your local law gives you, and you can bring proceedings in your local courts.

Ending these terms

You can stop at any time: Settings → Delete account, or see Deleting your data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice.

Sections that by their nature should survive — the content licence for copies already made, disclaimers, liability, and anything about credits already spent — survive the end of these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll update the date above and give notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Stake after that means you accept the new terms.
