Delete inside the app
This is the fastest route, and it's immediate.
- Open Stake and make sure you're signed in.
- Go to Settings (the profile tab).
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation, then tap Delete forever.
Your data is erased as you confirm, and your sign-in account is removed with it. There is no undo and no grace period — we cannot restore an account after this, so export anything you want to keep first.
Delete by email
If you've already uninstalled the app, can't sign in, or would simply rather we did it, ask us directly.
Send us a deletion request
Email hello@stake.dating with the subject "Delete my account", from the email address on the account.
Include your username if you remember it. We'll confirm the request comes from the account holder before we delete anything — this is to stop someone else erasing your account — and we'll email you when it's done.
What gets deleted
All of the following is erased from our live systems:
- Your account and sign-in — your Stake account record and your Firebase Authentication user, including your email address and password hash.
- Your profile — name, birth date, gender, orientation, height, city, bio, and your discovery preferences.
- Your photos — both the image files in Firebase Storage and the records pointing at them.
- Your prompt and duet answers.
- Likes and passes — every one you sent and every one you received, along with the comments attached to them.
- Matches, conversations, and messages — every match you're part of is torn down, and its messages are deleted for both people.
- Your wallet — credit balance and full transaction history.
- Verification — your verification submission and any verified badge.
- Blocks — in both directions.
- Reports filed about you, and any open moderation case.
- Notification settings and your push token, plus your daily like counter and read receipts.
What we keep
Reports you filed
- Reports you made about other people are kept — detached from your deleted profile — because deleting an account shouldn't wipe the safety record of the person who was reported.
Records we're required to keep
- Purchase and tax records for credit purchases, which the app stores hold and we're legally required to retain.
- A minimal record that an account was banned, where keeping it is necessary to stop the same person coming straight back.
Beyond that, residual copies can persist for a short time in our providers' routine backups and server logs, and age out on those providers' own rolling schedules. They are not used for anything.
Credits and purchases
Unused credits are forfeited when your account is deleted. They have no cash value and can't be refunded or transferred, so spend anything you care about first.
Deleting your Stake account does not cancel or refund a purchase made through Google Play or the App Store. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy — request one there.
How long it takes
- In the app — immediate. The data is gone as the confirmation completes.
- By email — we verify the request and delete within 30 days, usually far sooner, and confirm by email.
Deleting only some data
You don't have to delete everything to stop being seen. Inside the app you can remove individual photos or prompt answers, edit any field on your profile, unmatch or block someone, or turn discoverability off — which takes you out of Discover entirely while keeping your account.
For a copy of your data, or any other request under privacy law, see Your rights in the Privacy Policy.
